MCCARTANS INTRODUCTION 2.2…// HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY This is the Health and Safety Policy for McCartan’s Ltd. McCartans Ltd owns / operates two Pub / Restaurant businesses, located approx. 5 miles apart and sharing some Senior Management and other staff resource. This Policy applies to each venue and the staff employed throughout the business. STATEMENT OF INTENT • McCartans Ltd (“the Business”) recognises and accepts its responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 including responsibility to: • Production and maintenance of the Company’s policy and ensuring that department guidelines are consistent with policy; • Ensure that staff are trained to respond quickly and safely in an emergency situation. • monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of the policy; • Provide adequate instruction, training and supervision for all staff as well as appropriate safety information for customers/diners. • Work to prevent accidents and work related ill health. • Ensure the safety of all those who will use the facilities at the premises. ∠ The overall responsibility for health and safety lies with the The Senior Health and Safety Officer, Dominic McCartan (Managing Director). The MD also holds the role of Safety Officer and is responsible for coordinating effective H&S policies and controls across the organisation. Responsibilities include:- • its application; • Ensure safe access to and from the places of work. | Overall Responsibility • Provide and maintain a safe and healthy place of work. • Provide and maintain such equipment as needed to ensure that the business activities – that of running a Pub / Restaurant / Venue / hotel (Roebuck only) can be carried out with no risk of injury to either staff or customers. ∠ GENERAL MANAGEMENT OF H&S • the provision of general advice about the implication of the law; • the identification of health and safety training needs. The safety officer also acts on behalf of the Chief Executive, as the Company's formal link with the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Health Departments and other external agencies; • the production and maintenance of Health and Safety Codes of Practice for each aspect of the services within the Company
