Seeing their bright smiles reminds us why we do what we do.”

Smiles by Shannon

On February 7, Dr. Jennifer Shannon hosted her sixth annual GKAS event at her office, Smiles by Shannon Dental in Harrisburg.
Dr. Shannon’ s office provided complimentary dental exams, cleanings, fillings and fluoride treatments to 36 children.“ Clown Around Town Ltd.” came to entertain the children while they were in the waiting room, telling jokes and making balloon art.
“ Our goal was to make a difference, one smile at a time,” Dr. Shannon said.“ Seeing their bright smiles reminds us why we do what we do.”

Marysville Family Dentistry

Dr. Saniya Setia of Marysville Family Dentistry, accompanied by two of her dental assistants, hosted a GKAS event on February 27 at a local community school.
They taught the children how to properly brush and floss their teeth, the importance of good oral hygiene and healthy food habits, and provided packets on oral care to take home. The team dressed up as characters from“ The Wiggles” and danced and sang to make the learning fun.
The school helped to identify students who do not have access to proper dental care. The practice then reached out to those families to perform essential exams, prophylaxis, fluoride applications, sealants and restorative dentistry. Dr. Setia was featured on abc27, a local news broadcast, as a‘ Hometown Hero’ for her work in the community.
In addition to her annual GKAS event, Dr. Setia has started an initiative to“ donate a smile every year,” providing a dental makeover to a patient in great need of oral care who does not have the necessary financial means.
“ It is a truly gratifying experience to enhance the health and livelihood of our patients by helping them and their families with our talent and services,” said Dr. Setia.“ I, along with my team at Marysville Family Dentistry, are so grateful to be able to support our community through these outreach activities that truly impact the underserved patients in our community.”
