Scranton District Dental Society

The Scranton District Dental Society( SDDS) once again held many successful NCDHM events this year. Under the direction of Chair Dr. Thomas Langan, Jr., this year’ s events educated children about the importance of good dental hygiene in fun, entertaining ways.
On February 25 and 27, SDDS continued their annual partnership with Mueller Family McDonalds restaurants in South Scranton and Keyser Oak to host special events featuring the Tooth Fairy and Poppy Troll. Visitors enjoyed free photos with the characters, fun activities, and a dental hygiene bag including a coupon for free fries.
They also again partnered with the Lackawanna County Children’ s Library and held a story time reading session about the importance of oral health with the Tooth Fairy. Children received free dental hygiene bags, crafted tooth art projects, and took photos with the Tooth Fairy.
SDDS was able to provide over 5,000 dental hygiene bags, including a toothbrush, toothpaste, coloring pages, and free McDonald’ s french fry coupon for members to distribute to local schools, day care centers, libraries and educational facilities during NCDHM.
“ Our goal is to ensure that kids in our community experience dentistry in a fun, healthy way,” said Dr. Langan, Jr.“ We also want to help parents understand the importance of good, at-home hygiene and regular visits to their dental professional.”
