Chester / Delaware Give Kids A Smile Event
On May 8 , the Dental Societies of Chester County and Delaware County held their own GKAS event at the office of Dr . Barry Cohen in Drexel Hill where they treated 24 fortunate students who received nearly $ 10,000 worth of dental care and education .
Many volunteers took part , including Drs . Tamara Brady , Karin Brian , Barry Cohen , Kelsey Dagenhart , Linda Himmelberger , Bernie Logan , Santosh Mittal , Jackie Wingate , and Lisa Yosevitz . Due to the success of the event and the great need for more dental care in their area , Chester-Delaware will be holding another event this fall .
“ Thank you and the team so much !” said Nicole Machi , a mother of a student who received treatment . “ What a relief to get smart and caring dental services for the kids . I can ’ t say in words how much we appreciate the program . See you all in the fall !”
“ We have hosted this event in May for many years ,” said Dr . Cohen . “ Our staff looks forward to helping the children year after year . GKAS is one of the ADA ’ s greatest creations ever !”
Thanks to Act 159 of 2022 , Chester- Delaware will now be providing letters at access events to document hours of volunteer / uncompensated dental , hygiene or EFDA practice , of which 3 hours may be credited toward the in-person continuing education requirements .
“ Our annual event at Dr . Cohen ’ s office is always a wonderful way to spend a day ,” Dr . Brady said . “ Our recall patients are excited to get into the dental chair , showing their prior experiences have been positive . Our first timers may not be as excited , but by the end of their appointment , they know the dental team truly cares about them . This dental care is a benefit of the relationships we build with these disadvantaged children .”
