Kids Smiles
To start off NCDHM , Kids Smiles , a Philadelphia non-profit children ’ s dental center , hosted three open houses at their city locations ( Northeast , Southwest and West Philadelphia ) for the community to meet their employees and see the work that they do .
In recognition of Give Kids a Smile ( GKAS ), Kids Smiles provided free care to uninsured patients and received donations of healthy snacks from a local ShopRite for their Southwest location . The clinic also participated in Dr . Seuss week where staff dressed up every day to the theme of a book that they read to patients in the waiting room .
This year Kids Smiles unveiled their free Oral Health Tool Kit online resource in February .
“ The tool kit provides easily accessible , inclusive and engaging oral health educational resources to children , adults , educators , physicians , and community organizations at no cost ,” said Cheryl Janssen , Kids Smiles CEO . “ We aim to raise oral health literacy and empower families with the resources and skills they need for a lifetime of happy and healthy smiles .”
The tool kit is available in English and Spanish , and Kids Smiles hopes to expand and include other languages to make it more accessible while constantly updating the website with new information and resources .
