Let’ s not lose anyone this year
Two recent heart-related incidences here prompt me to add this health-related information. We’ re of the age where things can and do happen, as evidenced by our long list of complaints discussed at the 19th hole.
Several of you have reached out to me recently asking about heart attack symptoms. While they can vary from gripping pain to the innocuous indigestion, you can experience some or all of the following: Shortness of breath( with or without exertion), nausea, difficulty sleeping, heart palpitations, anxiety or feeling of uneasiness, feeling light-headed, dizzy or even passing out and up to gripping chest pain. Women may have some different symptoms including: back, shoulder, neck, arms or abdominal pain, fatigue and nausea that start before the heart attack and
insomnia.
While men and women can experience a heart attack, women are more likely to die from theirs than men. No, that’ s not a good thing. Many men die because they macho up and delay or avoid making that 911 call. Several friends that I have talked with indicated they were hesitant to make the call, as was I. My symptoms were shortness of breath, indigestion, fatigue, and a very slight ache in my left shoulder. With the recent death of a Men’ s Club member, and my incident, I would encourage you to get checked out if you’ re experiencing any symptoms( that especially includes A-Fib that doesn’ t resolve). My new Apple watch helped me with my self-diagnosis and need to make the call for assistance. Let’ s all be safe and live by a new motto:“ If in doubt, check it out.”
New member coffee and donuts
The new member coffee meet-andgreet was held on March 19. Present were board members, Tim Bonino, Greg, Benesh, Mike Williams, Joe Fieweger, Tom Vaughn and Mike Brown. There were 11 new and enthusiastic members present to learn more about the Men’ s Club and its activities.
Spaghetti Feed and Fundraiser
On March 19, several members of the Men’ s Club banded together, tied on aprons and crafted a delicious spaghetti and meatball dinner as a fundraiser for Men’ s Club events and tournaments. Over 100 guests were treated to some
Italian delights. Pretending to be chefs

Using big-screen TV monitors, this event will feature video and audio clips of celebrity interviews from various television productions, woven together with Roger’ s story-telling flair.
This is a free event, with donations welcome.
Other events on tap for the rest of the year include:
Sept. 28— Stephanie Schneidermann is hands down one of the most
diverse artists in the Pacific Northwest and creates sonic explorations of folk, americana, trip hop and pop.
Oct. 23— Lloyd Jones plays Blues for Dancing; enough said.
Dec. 14— Holiday Concert featuring Vocal Summit, an award-winning a-cappella vocal group.
But wait, there’ s more! Not if I can help it! Enough for one small group of volunteers. But we can always use more of those, so let me know if you’ d like to join our cadre of volunteers to help make these events a success. Thanks to all who have stepped up.
