Arts Association By CATHI MCLAIN
Big events to look forward to in summer, fall Charbonneau Arts is small but mighty, as evidenced by the scope of the projects we are planning for 2025. Our board, with the help of
MCLAIN a cadre of superstar volunteers, is planning two major events at Charbonneau, a new music festival and the annual festival of the arts, plus music concerts each month. The full scope of our activities can be found on our website, at charbonneauarts. org.
“ Blues for Schools,” the Wilsonville Music Festival @ Charbonneau, is set for Aug. 2-3. Thanks to a $ 10,000 grant from the city of Wilsonville’ s

Arts, Heritage & Culture Commission, we are able to introduce a world-class music festival. The event will feature Ben Rice and PDX Hustle Saturday night at 7:30, performances by five Portland area bands on Sunday starting at noon, and the Revival Brothers Band Sunday night at 7:30. KOIN’ s Ken Boddie will be the MC on Sunday.
The festival will take place on two stages— the Pavilion outdoor stage and the indoor Clubhouse main stage with professional staging, audio and lighting. Tickets are $ 20 for Saturday night and $ 40 for all-day Sunday. There will be reduced ticket prices for students; children under 12 will be free. Tickets can be purchased online and at the Charbonneau Activity Center starting on May 18.
Sunday’ s event will include booths featuring seven of your favorite vendors from last year’ s festival of the arts, merchandise and artists’ CDs, food trucks, Market Café bar and room to dance.

We are also looking forward to our 41st annual“ Arts with Flair,” Wilsonville Festival of the Arts @ Charbonneau, Oct. 10-12. The event opens with the Opening Night Gala Reception on Friday evening, featuring the fundraising silent auction, food and wine, the Artisan Booth Show, Fine Art Gallery, Student Gallery and Festival Store. We are already receiving registrations through Zapplication. org, a festival promotion and registration site, and the organizing committee is meeting monthly to plan out the many details to assure a smoothly running event.
Sponsorships are being solicited for both festivals, with Patrick Donaldson leading the effort for the Music Festival, and Mary Fieweger leading the effort for the Festival of the Arts. The more sponsorships we have, the more we can donate to the schools. With reduced school budgets, teachers rely more heavily on our support. In 2024,
|
we were able to donate $ 10,000 each to the art departments at Canby and Wilsonville high schools. We hope to match that amount for 2025.
And on top of these major initiatives, we will host our popular Music Stage Concert Series to augment the concerts sponsored by the Charbonneau Country Club. Next up in the series is May 18 at 3 p. m.—“ Life in Hollywood and Beyond”— a unique visual and storytelling experience with Roger Galloway. An extensive background as a Hollywood producer for film, television and radio audiences, has given Roger unique opportunities to work with major stars and musicians. Roger will be visiting family here in Charbonneau and has agreed to share some of his extensive personal library of video footage and hear his personal accounts of working with stars dating back to the‘ 60s and‘ 70s. Stories and video of Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis, James Arness, Rock Hudson, Conway Twitty, Brenda Lee, Hank Williams Jr., Muhammad Ali and many more.
