Workshops
Music and Rhythm - drumming
workshops for special education classes
In these all-embracing workshops, the
students will learn to play and explore a
variety of percussion instruments such as
bucket drums, double bells, shakers, and
sound shapes, including modified instruments
for students with mobility and sensory needs.
Playing a musical instrument offers a new
means of expression that can incorporate
movement and vocalizations, or
remain instrumental, depending on
the student needs. The goal of this
workshop is to create a child-
centered, supportive, positive
environment for joyful
music making.

From the Bronx to Brazil - a drumming
workshop Liz brings her experience living
in Brazil and New York City into a dynamic
drumming workshop. Students will dive right
into hip-hop drum games and call and
response patterns to create a drumming
piece that blends Brazilian rhythms and Hip-
hop. Both rhythms share African roots but
were born in the Americas and with them we
blend the old with the new. Students play
on bucket drums, double bells and shakers
to create an inclusive experience for all!
