Too Good To Throw Cooking Class

Written by Mrs Ward and Mrs Laurenson
In 2025, Too Good to Throw took part in the Micro Tyco challenge during their Business classes and emerged as the overall winner. Their standout idea impressed the judges and strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially those aimed at reducing poverty and hunger within the community.
They have since developed an inspiring initiative to reduce food waste by ensuring surplus ingredients are used in creative and sustainable ways. To bring this to life, they delivered an after-school cookery class for both adults and children, with a delicious chosen recipe: Fajita Chicken Fried Rice. The session was designed to bring families together to prepare a full meal while also contributing to the wellbeing of the wider community.
The first session took place on Thursday 5 March and was a real success with 10 families coming together to create their dishes. We are excited for the next one – well done team! 😊
Mary’ s Meals
Written by Ms McCallum
Well done also to our S1 classes who received a certificate from Mary’ s Meals in recognition of their fundraising efforts in December.
Maggie Cook from the charity sent a kind message:‘ Thank you so much for your precious gift of £ 200.00, which is helping us to transform the lives of hungry children around the world with a nutritious daily meal in school. Your kindness is bringing food, joy and hope to the children who eat at Mary’ s Meals, allowing them to make the most of their education and giving them the chance of a better future’.
