Eco Group
Written by Peyton Buchanan & Freya Hughes, S1
Eco Group is run by one of our teachers, Mr Marshall, up in the Social Studies department. They are taking part in a Rotary eco competition for the best project. The theme for the competition was Happiness in Nature to promote better comfort and support for our environment. The competition is helping to raise awareness for our Earth. We personally believe the Eco club will win the competition as their project was well put together and overall, it was phenomenal.
Winter Wonderland
Written by Grace McCallum, Alice Campbell & Eve Malone, S1
The Science Winter Wonderland was a fun evening of science experiments held in the science department. Children from the Marr Cluster and their parents were invited to come and explore science in a creative way.
Careers Options Evening
Written by Grace McCallum, Alice Campbell & Eve Malone
Run by Miss Muir, the S2-S5 Career Options Night was to give Marr children and their parents an opportunity to see where they could go in life. Throughout the school, there were pop up stands with people who had gone down different career paths. The Army and Royal Navy were at reception, along with the NHS, Active Schools, Collins Aerospace and other companies.
The South Plaza was full of teachers from every department in Marr, and the North Plaza had professors from different Universities around Scotland. Bringing security to both student and parent helping them see what is ahead or any goals. Helping pupils are helping our futures, setting goals sound simple but can be complex a goal, a mindset. By setting a goal for themselves, parents get to help and support it. They help by giving career options or study goals. All the departments were there to show what kind of jobs could be done after school or when still in school.
Experiencing science in this way can really help children engage and enjoy science more than just sitting at a desk with a piece of paper, because it gives them a visual idea of what science can be like and how fascinating it can be.
There were Christmas themed stalls run by students from throughout the school, and the feedback from people who visited was glowing!
This immersive workshop was held on the 4 th of December 2025, and was organised by Miss McAuley, Dr Cannon, Mr Wallace and Mrs Anderson.
