Marr College - Mental Health Matters!
Our Mental Health Ambassadors are keen to help support students and staff – offering
drop-in clubs at lunchtime. We also have some helpful information and links on our school
website
Promoting Positive Mental Health
Prelims and Mental Health
Additionally, for many students preparing
for and sitting prelims can be a very
stressful time of year. To help with this click

for coping with exams.
In an average classroom, three children will be
suffering from a diagnosable mental health
condition. By developing and implementing
practical, relevant and effective mental health
supports we can promote a safe and stable
environment for the many students affected
both directly, and indirectly by mental ill
health.
‘Mental health is a state of well-being in which
every individual realises his or her own
potential, can cope with the normal stresses of
life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is
able to make a contribution to her or his
community.’ (World Health Organization)
The Marr College school website is also
full of great tips. There is information
about how the skills, knowledge and
understanding needed by our students to
keep themselves and others physically
and mentally healthy and safe are
included as part of our developmental
PSE Curriculum and across the school.
There are also top tips for mental well-
being, information on warning signs,
information on source of support and tips
for discussing mental health with young
people. Please click on the QR code
below to be taken to the relevant
website or scan it with your phone.
For a number of months, the team of senior
Mental Health Ambassadors have been
working hard to promote good mental
wellbeing across the school through running
lunchtime drop-in sessions and leading
professional learning workshops for staff across
the entire Marr cluster.
The festive season can be a time of joy and
spending time with family and friends, but it
can also be a stressful and lonely period for
people. Click on the Mental Health Foundation
logo for helpful tips on how to look after yourself
during the festive season.
