Becoming a

Great Manager

When managing a group of people within a company or firm, there are certain expectations one has of there manager or supervisor that they believe are the qualities of an effective manager. The same is said for a marketing manager, but the qualities of a marketing manager differ from your regular manager due to the different types of areas marketers interact with. It is safe to say that marketing managers run not only the marketing department, but also have to dapple in PR, production, sales, etc. So if you are wondering how to become a great an effective marketing manager, I will provide you with the tips and qualities to become a great manager.

1. Create a vision

As a manager, it is important that you are knowledgeable of all the products you offer at your company. The role of a marketing manager is to be able to take the products and simplify their use and benefits so that they are easily understood. Then create the vision for the team to develop the plan for each product further. Along with creating a vision a marketing manager also has to be aware that their communication is effective so the campaign can run coherently.

2. Have Self Confidence

As a marketing manager, you are a leader, take that role and use it in a team oriented way. You provide the team with the direction of the campaign, but it isn't your idea alone. Together you brainstorm and develop concepts that would make for a good campaign, but the final decision is the manager's call. Be assertive and tell the team, "this is the

direction we are headed, what are your ideas to make this a successful campaign?"

3. Get creative

Marketers are expected to be creative and pinpoint ideas that will make the campaign or

promotion more relevant to the audience. As the manager, you are not expected to be the most

creative out of the bunch, but you must be the most detailed. When you look at something more

closely, you will be amazed the issues or opportunities it has to make it better.

4. Be Knowledgeable

It is inevitable, people within your company are going to come to you with a million questions and expect you to know the answers of all of them. This is why knowing the latest trends in the market place and what is important to customers is vital.
