Around The Region

tour ahead of him, and he misses
his family a lot and can't wait to
get home.
The show kicked off at around
8 p.m. with the stage bursting to
life with Kyle and Corey Dunn
from Kingston, Ontario. They got
the crowd wound up for George
Canyon. George hit the stage
soon after and the crowd went
wild. He kept all dancing in their
seats for very close to two hours.
It was a show not to be missed
for sure. The place was packed
with over 600 people. It was a
sell out, which made all very
happy.
George Canyon was born Aug.
22, 1970, in Pictou, Nova Scotia
and later moved to Hopewell,
Nova Scotia. He started in the
music business in 1996 and has
certainly climbed to the top ever
since. He is signed with Shoreline, Universal South, and Universal Music Canada. In 2004
George was a runner up on the
second season of Nashville Star.
He has had many jobs to include
police officer, slaughterhouse
beef inspector, owner-operator of
his own music studio, plus others. On Oct. 16, 2014, he was
named official anthem singer for
his beloved Calgary Flames
hockey team. He has also done
his fair share of acting in movies
too. In 2012 he was in a remake
of “Dawn Rider,” which is a
remake of a John Wayne movie.
He now calls Alberta his home
and tries to get home often.

WYATT SAVAGE
CELEBRATES 60 YEARS
A few days ago, Rev. John
Barry Forsyth of St. Andrew’s
Church in Lennoxville gave us a
call and invited the Chronicle
to a very special service honoring
Jessie Aulis interviewing country performer George Canyon backstage
before his sold-out show at the Centennial Theater. Corey Bellam

Wyatt Savage on his 60th year of
being an elder at this Church.
Rev. John Barry Forsyth told
us that Wyatt has served 60
years as elder under six different
ministers, to include John Barry.
Just before the service, many of
Wyatt's family arrived much to
his and his wife Louise’s surprise. Rev. John Barry did a
super service and explained just
what an elder is. They have to be
devoted to the church, understanding, gentle, helpful, supporting
to
all,
patient,
determined, and the list could go
on forever. Elders hold a church
together just as a good minister
does.
The Church presented Wyatt
and Louise with a lovely
engraved plaque, and also a
framed print of the old church
before it was damaged beyond

repair by a storm many years
ago, and the new St. Andrew's
Church in Lennoxville, Que. A
very nice bouquet of flowers was
also given to Louise from the
Church. Wyatt Savage has been
around St. Andrew’s Church forever it seems and we’re very sure
he and his wife will be for many
more years to come.
After the service, we were
invited down into the church hall
for lunch and Rev. John Barry
read many messages that had
come in from family and past
ministers. Wyatt Savage and his
wife certainly deserve this great
honor.
