Stephen K. Brungot
STEPHEN K. BRUNGOT
COLEBROOK–Stephen K.
Brungot, 68, of Colebrook, passed
away late Saturday evening,
March 19, 2016, at the Upper
Connecticut Valley Hospital in
Colebrook, after being stricken
at his home and after a long
period of poor health.
He was born on Oct. 9, 1947,
in West Stewartstown, a son to
the late Norman and Lois A.
(Clawson) Brungot. Steve was a
1965 graduate of Colebrook
Academy. He attended N.H. College in Manchester for a period
of time, but was drafted into the
U.S. Army during the Vietnam
era.
Steve’s military career lasted
22 years, with duty stations in
South Korea (where he met his
wife), as well as Japan, Thailand,
and Germany. He retired from
the Army at the rank of Master
Sergeant, earning two purple
heart ribbons among many other
decorations. Upon returning
home to the North Country,
Steve worked for a time as a
police dispatcher and also in the
accounting department at the
Balsams before being hired by
U.S. Customs and Immigration
as an agent on the border.
Steve’s second career, in law
enforcement, lasted 19 years.
Steve was an excellent
bowler, and was crowned state
champion in his younger years.
He was active in civic and fraternal organizations in his community, and served on the Colebrook
Planning Board. He was a Master Mason and member of Evening Star Lodge 37, F. & A.M.,
and the George L. O’Neil post of
the American Legion. He loved
to visit with friends over breakfast at the Wilderness Restaurant, and he usually stuck to his
daily routine, just loving life.
Steve is survived by his wife
of almost 40 years, Chong
