Step 3
Using a Loyal tip 104 and white buttercream , it ’ s time to pipe the swag ! To make the swag frilly and dainty , hold the bag so the wider end of the tip is at the top . Hold the bag horizontally the whole time and press the wider end of the tip to touch the cake . Once comfortable , start putting a light to medium pressure and squeeze out some buttercream . As it hits the cake , start making small up and down motions with your hand to make a frill with the piping . It is important whilst doing this , to make sure the wider part of the tip is touching the cake , otherwise it will fall off the side . Follow the markings you ’ ve made with your cutter and bring the piping , one swag at a time , all the way around the cake . Any mistakes can be gently pulled off the cake with a skewer , re-done and any marks will eventually be covered up with other piping details- so don ’ t fret !
Step 4
To make things extra frilly , use a second Loyal tip 104 , fill your bag with your base colour ( Sky Blue ) and repeat step 3 above the white swag . This adds extra dimension to the cake without having to use too many different piping techniques for the swag .
