larger space, which is a good thing because that means the banquet is drawing interest. The committee will need to get more estimates before making a final decision on budget for venue space. The final budget will be presented at the February meeting.
Championship Horse Show: James Duenow
The 2026 Champ Show class list was presented. The futurity committee requested that 2 yr old halter and 2 yr old lunge line be added to futurity classes. A jackpot Ranch Pleasure classes was added for 2026, as well as Sr ++ Key Race and Pony Key Race, following interest and feedback from WSCA Champ show exhibitors. The 2026 Champ show dates are set for September 24-28 st, 2026.
A motion was made by Darcy Berget, seconded by Courtney Betsch, to approve the 2026 WSCA Championship Show class list as presented.
The committee is exploring options to replicate a priority move-in, similar to 2025 champ show, if feasible with MN State Fair. James was pleased to announce that for 2026, MN State Fair did not increase rental on the colosseum, Horse Barn or Cattle barn. There was roughly a $ 2,000 increase to the overall cost from 2024 Champ show. James requested that a $ 500 deposit be approved by the board, to secure our rental of the MN State Fair facilities for 2026 champ show.
A motion was made by Dustin Heck, seconded by Paul Hansen, to make a $ 500 deposit to the MN State Fair, to secure rental of facilities for 2026 Champ show.
Steve Tibbets mentioned that the written agreement between WSCA and MN 4H for stall rental is up for renewal. MN 4H currently is paying $ 90 per stall for rental.
Computer: Jake Flodquist
Absent. Liz Bauer reported that she has been working with Jake on trying to reset the Online Membership site for 2026. When the site was created, it was only set to go up to 2025. Jake is exploring options and trying to gain access to the site to create a workaround for 2026.
Drills and Squares: Marlys Mooney Nothing new to report.
Futurity: Kim Ziegler
Absent. As noted in the Champ show report, the committee is adding 2 yr old halter and 2 yr old lunge line classes. The committee is looking to use the neck garlands again for 2026, as they were much appreciated by recipients.
Historian: Tim Wampfler Absent. Nothing to report.
Judges: Lynn-Ellen St. Martin
The 2026 Judges seminar is set for March 20-21 st at the Leatherdale Equine Center. The clinician will be multicarded breed judge Clint Fullerton. The committee is working on the seminar agenda and prepping their budget for the February board meeting. A few more judge application packets have been sent out.
Marketing & Promotions: Rachel Duenow
Absent. James Duenow reporting. 2026 sponsorship information was passed around for review. The committee decided to put the idea of a year-long sponsorship program on hold, until we can reassess how the association currently distributes information to its members. Along with Rachel and James, the committee is looking to pull in Lynn-Ellen St. Martin, Liz Bauer, Dustin Heck, Julie Ginter and Annie Mickelson, to help look into current and outside resources, to evaluate what is currently working and what isn’ t, and to find the best way to communicate with WSCA members. The sponsorship package for 2026 mirrors champ show 2025.
