Fluid Motion Monroe Using bolts of fiberglass and barrels of resin, Fluid Motion in Monroe builds Ranger Tugs and Cutwater Boats from the ground up. The largest boat builder on the West Coast, they manufacture and test all their boats in Washington, then they ship all over the world, including Japan, China and Australia. They employ around 300 people and produce approximately 500 boats a year. Jeff Messer, vice president of Fluid Motion, looks over the factory floor of the company’s “Monroe Two” facility (its second in Monroe). Among the company’s six facilities across the Puget Sound region is its original plant in Kent, which it opened in 1958. John Livingston, president of Fluid Motion, signs the Manufacturing Week bus.
