Every square on the board has a name, consisting of the letter of its file
and the number of its rank. In fact, this is exactly why I asked if you'd
ever played Battleship; just as in that popular naval game, the name of
each square is a combination of the file letter and rank number. To find
the name of the square, just find the letter of its file and the number of it
rank on the board edge.
