of former prison

A former prison in Northallerton, North Yorkshire will be repurposed into independent retail units, attracted workspaces, a cinema, public area for events and restaurants.

The 3.5-acre former prison site encompassed five prison buildings, closing down in 2013 and will be refurbished into the Treadmills scheme vision. The name ‘Treadmills’ was chosen to reflect the world’s largest treadmill used by the inmates of the former prison.

Link between London and Bordeaux to be launched

HS1 Ltd, working with two other operators, has announced plans to launch a direct train from London St Pancras to Bordeaux, France. Currently, passengers must switch trains in Paris to complete their journey to Bordeaux - a total travel time of 6 and a half hours. The proposed direct route would cut travel times by nearly two hours. Direct routes to Geneva and Frankfurt are also in the plans for HS1 among other European destinations.
