TRENDS OF 2014
1) URBAN MILITARY. I’m putting this at number 1 because it is my absolute favourite. It’s all about trading in your frilly dresses and socks for a hard, chic
military look. Leathers, dark greens, and some metallic accents create the perfect combo. This is
your go-to outfit style to conquer your world in the midst of a fashion war.
2) WRAP COATS. Big, chic coats will always be in - especially blacks, neutrals, and some
with fur here and there. Playing with your proportions is always fun, and what better way to stay
warm than with a fashionable yet functional piece?
3) TURTLENECKS. Yes, I do realize this one is more or less controversial but hey, they look good
once you get the hang of them. They’ll always be a staple piece in your closet whether it be for a casual lazy day at home or an adventurous day out with your friends.
4) THIGH-HIGH BOOTS. The goal is to make yourself appear as elongated as possible. Any sleek-shaped boot will do, and embellishments such as ribbons or laces will only add to your fashionable style. Plus, the taller the boot, the better.
5) CRYSTAL-SEQUINED SWEATERS. Last but of course not least, we have our comfy trend. Any sweater with crystals used as decorations fall under this category. The greatest part about this is that you
can easily find this statement + staple piece anywhere as local as your closest Forever 21.
It’s official: another year is almost over, but fashion-forward trends and classics will never be forgotten. Whether you watch runway shows religiously on your computer - at 2 AM with some Nutella - or just glimpse through a magazine from time to time, we can all take a moment to bask in the glory of some of this year’s hottest trends as well as next year’s most anticipated ones. Think of this as your very own cheat sheet.
