Although opinions differ on whether or not his works are the best in the young-adult genre, John Green has definitely gained a lot of fame, and in my opinion, he deserves it. Not only has his book, The Fault in Our Stars, made the movie one of the most anticipated ones of its genre this year. The movie also grossed nearly $125 million in the United States alone. The literal “sick love story” adored by many, including critics, has received general favor. Hazel Grace, the protagonist of the story is a cancer survivor teenager who meets Augustus Waters, another victim who shares a similar "fault". Follow the two characters as they embark on a discovery of life; savouring it for its fragility. The story is embedded so deep into the hearts of international fans that a Bollywood remake is underway.
But what happens now? A book can only be read so many times before the words fade into memory, and a movie a few dozen before the scenes turn into blurbs of myopia. It is evident that with new upcoming releases constantly, the fame and attention a movie can get is only limited; until it crashes into forgottenness.
As 2014 rolls to an end, so does the hype regarding The Fault in Our Stars. Although well loved, the attention is being diverted towards newer prospects such as Paper Towns, another work by John Green. With a well known cast including model/actress Cara Delevingne and a veteran actor from John Green’s last movie, Nat Wolff, the fame and limelight for this upcoming movie is slowly building. Instead of a love story, we follow the story of a high school graduate’s trip to retracing the path of his dream girl and neighbour, Margo Roth Spielgelman. During his trek towards her destination, he unravels not the secrets hidden by Margo, but instead, learns more about what he ultimately desires in his life. Paper Towns is a story that shows us the importance of living in the “now”; taking full advantage of each day that passes by.

As 2014 ends off, the legacy The Fault in Our Stars left in the minds of young readers is still prevalent; however, the outlook and anticipation for Paper Towns is gradually building within John Green's young-adult fanbase. This is understandable since Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars share a similar plot in which the protagonists go through a coming-of-age and end up with a better understanding of themselves.
Paper Towns is on our must-watch-list of the year as we await its release by re-reading the novel. Check out the trailer above and let us know if it's on your must-watch-list too!
