Activity #6

Teaching pronunciation:

Vowel: /i/ and /I/

Materials: Worksheet.

Procedure:

1. Each student will read a sentence that ids missing a word. At the end of the sentence they will have two options(a minimal pair), they have to choose a word and say it out load correctly.

Stage: Guide practice.

2. The rest of the students will have to pay attention and write the word their classmate is saying in the gap.

3. The teacher will asl a random students to tell her all the words with /i/ sound and all the words with /I/ sound.

Worksheet:

1.Instructions: Listen carefully to your classmate read the sentence and pronouncing one of the words in the parenthesis. When your classmate says the word fill in the gap in the sentence.

1. I.......my backpack with all the things I need for school.(field/filled).

2. Can you please give me the....... sharpener?(grin, green)

3. Yesterday I went to..... very early because I was tired.(sleep/slip)

4.My friend already did her homework for the rest of the...(wick/week)

5.My sister's....are bright red. (chick/cheek)

2.The students will go one by one reading a sentence and pronouncing one of the words in parenthesis and their classmates have to write the word they said in the gap.

3. When they are done with the work sheet they teacher will ask randomly what sounds the words they said have.
