Escape, Break In

Chapter 4

By Diego Jimenez Martinez

“Wait so you are the chief’s daughter?” I ask Dael.

“Yes I just said that smart one,” replies Dael very impatiently.

“Why are you talking to us if I may ask?” asks Jonathan.

“Because I help you get out and you help me get out,” says Dael.

“And you will help us get out by telling us which doors to use am I correct?” asks Trevor.

“Yes, and you help me by lifting open the door at the end of the doors,” answers Dael.

“That's too many doors for me to be able to contemplate,” I say.

“Look there is a door at the end involving a fingerprint scanner which will take some rewiring,” says Dael looking at me with a look suggesting that I was the only reason she is willing to help. Because she knows that I wire the entire triangles, so I am the only person she cares about..

“Well,” I say as I look behind me at Trevor and Jonathan, ”I’m in.”

“Okay let's go then,” responds Dael delighted.

“Hey we didn't agree,” whines Trevor as me and Jonathan who has already figured out that I am the only person that Dael needs follow Dael to the door decorated in blue diamond

“Shut up,” I say back to him.

“This is the one,” says Dael as she opens the door to see a tunnel decorated with blue diamond and at the end there was the letters H and A engraved into another door.

“What do those letters mean,” I asks.

“I don't know,” responds Dael. I don't believe her but something in her voice makes me not want to pressure her about this topic any further.when we reach the door at the end of the tunnel Dael opens the door and we enter to see more doors.

And so we went through eleven more set of door each with a different color and set of letters until we came to the last set of doors and we went through the orange door like all the other ones but at the end there was a word not just a letter.

“Here,” I read out loud.

“It's probably nothing,” reassures Dael and pushes through the door and then we a huge door that's at least ten times bigger than all the others we had entered only this one is not made of diamond but is completely made of steel and at the side is a screen where I am sure the chief guard puts his hands for them to be scanned. I move forward and study the wires below the screen.

“Can you do it,” asks Dael.

“Yeah but do you want me to do it fast or slow?” I ask.

“Fast,” Replies Dael.

“Okay,” I reply, “RUN,” I yell and then I rip out every single wire.

When I do that every single thing that can happen happens. Twenty different alarms sound at once the rain came down on us. It was mayhem but it was also freedom.

The door opens and and we sprint out into 30 degrees below zero and lightning. As well as a forest where all the trees are covered in snow we all quickly find cover under an evergreen.

“Why is there lightning,” asks Trevor.

“The triangles control the weather one kilometer around it and this is there emergency whether protocol,” I reply.

“Nice to know,” says Jonathan.

“Also if it hits you die instantly,” I reply.

“So don't get hit,” says Dael out of breath.

“No one else going to bring up the fact that we are going to freeze,” whines Trevor.

“It's only one kilometer,” says Jonathan.

“Actually the snow is real,” I reply.

“So more than one kilometer,” says Dael.

“Way more than one kilometer,” I reply.

“Also please tell us that that was the fast way,” says Jonathan.

“You never asked,” I reply with a smirk.
