Anakin quickly swung the ship to one side. But it was too late. The laser hit the arm directly in the middle. The arm snapped and the ship flew wildly out of control. The pilot had luckily managed to regain control of his ship and was now flying towards the core. He avoided enemy fire.

Anakin watched from the top of the Death Star. If he succeeded in destroying the giant ship, he would have to fly out of the way. He began a course back for Yavin, leaving the task up to the man whose ship he had repaired.

When he landed on Yavin, he saw fireworks. He knew the mission had succeeded. He knew he was a part of it, but still, he was unsettled. He was told he was destined to be a Jedi, but he never was. He was too old to receive training. He would never be a Jedi. But he knew he had the power. He just had to clear his mind.

And so, that was all he did for the rest of his life. Everyday, he practiced using the Force. Unfortunately, he never did become a Jedi.

But one comforting thought he always had was that he played an important role in the battle. And that would always be true, and his name would live on for generations, whether or not he was a Jedi Master. And for him, that was all he needed.
