Lutheran Church of Mahomet, The Invitation 2019 Prayer Invitation (1) | страница 12
Growing up my favorite holiday had always been Christ-
mas. There was just something about the lights, the mu-
sic and of course…the presents. I loved to go to church on
Christmas Eve, full of excitement and hope. As I’ve gotten
older and understand things better, the pendulum has
slowly shifted to Holy Week and Easter. Who couldn’t
love a week celebrating the greatest story ever told? Jesus
and his disciples head into Jerusalem knowing trouble
awaits. And while the disciples seem pretty loose, arguing
about which of them is the greatest, Jesus is tense. He
knows his time is near. He curses a fig tree because it has
no fruit even though it’s not in season. Then upon arriv-
ing in Jerusalem, He goes to the temple only to find peo-
ple selling cattle, sheep and doves. So…the “Lamb of God”
and “Prince of Peace” makes a whip of chords, throws ta-
bles over and chases everyone out. I love this example of
the very much human side of Jesus being grouchy. Fast
