followed by the escorting of guests to the location of the first activity . To kick things off , S . I . Teo delivered an anti-scam sharing to set the mood for the subsequent activity , which was brainstorming for various ideas to increase community awareness and vigilance regarding scams . In randomly-assigned breakout groups , many solutions were brought up and later presented to everyone . This opened up participants to new perspectives as cadets and other volunteers ensured that the migrant workers were included in the conversation and encouraged them to share their views .

Next on the agenda were icebreakers and sports . A couple rounds of “ Splat ” allowed participants to match faces to names , which was exciting as various groups had several close calls towards the end . Afterwards , they made their way to the Founders ’ Hall , with games of dodgeball , badminton and captains ’ ball going on simultaneously . Everyone was able to rotate through all three games before lunch was served . During the meal , interesting conversations were shared , with a myriad of topics brought up . It was a pleasant sight to see cadets , volunteers and migrant workers across various backgrounds getting to know more about each other .
Last but not least , the final activity of the day , art jamming , occurred . Participants expressed their thoughts and identities through the use of crayons and a sheet of paper , before explaining their works to their breakout groups . When our migrant brothers were initially slightly confused as a result of the language barrier , a few cadets stepped up to the front to translate the instructions for them . The day came to a bittersweet close after a group photo with all 80 plus participants and certificates was distributed to volunteers .
As for how I benefited from this workshop , this experience made
me better understand migrant workers as I got to hear their perspectives and views . I also learnt more about ways to protect ourselves against scams instead of falling victim to them . The opportunity to organise this workshop and later , to share my views by presenting my group ’ s ideas to everyone , also improved my confidence .
Here ’ s what some of our cadets had to say about the experience :
“ Supporting the migrant brothers , during the anti-scam workshop was both a meaningful and enriching experience . Initially , the language barrier posed some challenges , but through simple gestures and mutual effort , we were able to communicate effectively . Collaborating on ideas for scam prevention was not only insightful but also deeply fulfilling . It felt rewarding to play a role in spreading such important awareness within our community , bridging gaps and protecting each other from potential threats .” Jaycer Ricamora ( MN102 )
“ Participating in the anti-scam event with migrant brothers was a meaningful experience . It highlighted the importance of awareness and protection in our communities . I felt a strong sense of unity as we worked together to equip everyone with essential knowledge to prevent scams .” Rashaan Tharanesh ( FN202 )
