This meaningful initiative allowed Josephians to give back to their communities , serving those who have contributed so much to society . As Singapore advances in digitalization , many senior citizens feel overwhelmed by the rapid pace of technological change . Our students provided reassurance , demonstrating that no one should be left behind in this digital era . They truly embodied the spirit of being " men for others ", serving their community with compassion .

Through this experience , our students developed empathy and patience . Interacting with a diverse range of residents challenged them to overcome language barriers and bridge intergenerational gaps . Many engaged in conversations in their mother tongues and dialects , displaying remarkable patience as they explained the steps clearly and repeatedly . Despite the challenges , these Josephians approached their tasks with enthusiasm and compassion .
Although the experience was demanding , it served as an important reminder to our students , especially the graduating class of 2024 , that service is at the heart of their identity as Josephians . As they prepare to leave SJI , they are encouraged to carry forward the values they have learnt and to apply them in ways that contribute to making their community , and society at large , a better place for all .
