VIA : CDC Vouchers
LUMEN
Community : Supporting the elderly in our community
By the VIA Committee
From 4 to 8 January 2024 , our Year 4 students were deployed to various community centres across Singapore to assist residents to claim their $ 500 CDC vouchers . Their primary role was to support CDC ambassadors in encouraging residents , particularly the elderly , to embrace digital platforms , such as government websites , to access essential services .
Prior to the programme , Josephians familiarised themselves with the voucher claiming process by following instructions on the official government website . Residents simply needed to log in using their Singpass details , and upon claiming the voucher , they would receive an SMS containing a link . This link would direct them to their vouchers , which they could access through a QR code for easy payment at participating merchants .
During the activity , our students engaged with residents to encourage them to use their smartphones to redeem their vouchers . They initiated conversations to reassure elderly residents that the process was straightforward and convenient . Although many were understandably hesitant due to unfamiliarity with technology , our students successfully assisted several residents in navigating the process .
Additionally , selected students collaborated with CDC ambassadors to visit local shops and hawker centres , helping shop owners display ‘ CDC voucher stickers ’ to inform residents that their vouchers would be accepted there .
