VIA : Project Scubilion Fair

LUMEN
Community : Charity organisations
By the VIA Committee

On Tuesday , 2nd April 2024 , the VIA Scubilion Fair took place in the school foyer , making it an enriching day for our Year 1 to Year 6 students from 9 am to 2 pm . The event was a vibrant and engaging platform , allowing students to interact with a variety of community organisations , all curated to inspire meaningful contributions to society .

The fair was named after Blessed Scubilion , a dedicated servant who spent over three decades advocating for the marginalised African slaves in coffee and sugar cane plantations . Known as the “ catechist of the slaves ,” Blessed Scubilion educated and prepared them for the sacraments and their eventual social integration following their emancipation in 1848 . His lifelong mission to uplift the oppressed , even after their liberation , serves as a powerful model of dedication and compassion for the least privileged in society .
Objectives of the VIA Scubilion Fair The fair aimed to fulfill several key objectives for our students :
• Raise Awareness of Social Issues : students were introduced to a range of social issues and learnt about ongoing efforts by various organisations to address these challenges within the community .
• Inspire Meaningful Contribution : by aligning students ‘ interests and strengths with the work of the participating organisations , the fair sought to motivate them to make a difference in the world around them .
• Encourage Collaboration : students were given the chance to discover opportunities for collaboration with organisations , sparking partnerships that could extend beyond the fair .
