Josephians then also explored the Malay Technology Museum , delving into Brunei ’ s Malay culture with a focus on traditional games and house styles . In addition , Josephians ventured into the water village of Kampong Ayer . Once a vibrant heart of the formidable Bruneian Empire which ruled parts of Borneo and the Philippines , this place was dubbed the “ Venice of the East ” by an Italian explorer . During a thrilling boat tour , Josephians explored this historic water settlement , offering glimpses of distinctive homes , unique transportation , and the seamless integration of amenities like schools and mosques into the aquatic lifestyle .
During the trip to Brunei , Josephians made an official visit to the Singapore High Commission ( SHC ). The visit to the SHC aimed to deepen the Josephians ’ understanding of international relations in our globalised world . We received a warm welcome and explored a vast collection of awards , accolades , photographs , and diverse items that showcased the strong ties between Singapore and Brunei .
Following a brief tour , the Josephians listened to a speech by the High Commissioner , who shared his diplomatic experiences , providing valuable insights into Singapore ’ s diplomatic missions .
Apart from their visit to SHC , the students interacted with the local community and immersed into Bruneian culture through their visit to two schools , Jerudong International School and Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan .
They ended their internationalisation trip to Brunei ’ s Ulu Temburong National Park .
