The Mother Tongue Language and Geography departments collaborated to design a trip to Brunei Darussalam – a modern and progressive nation rich in resources and history – curating a journey for Year 3 Josephians to explore the rich culture and understand how the environment influences and affects the development of the beautiful country .

During this IE trip , Josephians explored Brunei ’ s rich heritage through visits to culturally significant places . A highlight was the tour of the Royal Regalia Museum , showcasing the Sultan ’ s extensive collection of royal artefacts and regalia . These exhibits not only displayed treasures like jewellery and ceremonial items but also provided an insight into their significance and history . This offered Josephians a deeper understanding of Brunei ’ s prominent royal traditions .
Josephians also explored the Pasar Gadong Night Market , indulging in a variety of delicious
Bruneian delicacies that showcased the diverse flavours of the country . Here , they experienced a unique monetary transaction as the Singaporean and Bruneian currencies are pegged to each other . This agreement allows Josephians to use Singapore dollars as legal tender in Brunei without complications , highlighting the strong interconnectedness between the two countries .
Inaugurated by the 29th Sultan of Brunei , the Jame ’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque stands as a testament to the country ’ s rich cultural heritage and history . It serves as a grand place of worship accommodating up to 5,000 worshippers for various events , including daily prayers and Islamic festivals . Its stunning architecture and interior create a sacred and tranquil atmosphere , inviting all Bruneians to gather for prayer .
