Place - the SJI foyer because to me , it is the heart of SJI , where parents and newcomers like myself first step foot on SJI , where incoming Year 1s and Year 5s assemble on the first day of their orientation camps , greeted by the sign on the slope “ Enter to Learn .” It is where Lunchtime Jam sessions are carried out and everybody sings along and where Christmas decorations are put up during the December holidays . But it is also the very place I walk through alone to exit school at the end of the day , sometimes at 5 pm , tired and ready to go home , catching sight of the statue of St Joseph , walking down the slope to where it says “ Leave to Serve ”...
My photograph captures the SJI foyer with a rainy facade , with slightly colder tones on the outer frame but the SJI foyer emanates the golden warmth from the heart of the SJI spirit , and it is truly a special place to me .
The classroom is the place in school where I spend most of my time l , be it studying or at leisure , during recess , or during free periods in between lessons . The classroom has everything needed to make it a welcoming environment , from the organised and decorated noticeboard to the neatly-arranged tables and chairs .
Every morning , rays of golden sunlight stream through the windows , illuminating the whiteboard with a soft pleasant glow . The ceiling fans swirl with the constant grace of a ballerina , dispelling the humid and stale air with an inviting gust of cool refreshing wind . The dazzling LED lights shine brightly , bathing the classroom in brilliant white light . The ashy-grey tables are smooth and sturdy and are often accompanied by cheery green chairs .
During lessons , the rhythmic scratching of pens fills the classroom as the teachers animatedly engage the class in informative lessons , occasionally broken by the faint whispers of students . When evening comes , beams of amber sunlight fill the classroom as the melodious tunes of cicadas reverberate throughout the space . The calming and comforting sound of the water features outside the class often wafts into the classroom .
