THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT SJI
Lumen asked the question “ What do you love about SJI ?” and Josephians enthusiastically reply . In this special feature , we read about the places , experiences and people that mean so much to us individually and collectively .

I feel that the field and track in SJI form a huge part of me . Every day , my classmates and I would be at the track or field during recess , playing football without fail . We would hold our mini-games between classes or play with our seniors as well . The field means a lot to me as it holds the many fun and enjoyable memories I have made with my peers , be it the successful wins we have achieved or the losses that we have had . As Covid has stopped us from playing for the past two years , I would say that I am appreciating the time I have left in SJI to be able to play alongside my peers .

My favourite thing about SJI has to be the orientation campfire , which is the event that every Josephian goes through only once in their lives . SJI is only SJI because of the strong school spirit and the Josephians who bear the torch which kindles its fire . The orientation campfire is where new Josephians come together and celebrate the start of their Josephian journey . With the fraternity captains and peer support leaders / facilitators , who lead cheers and songs , the younger and new generation of Josephians take the first step out of their comfort zones as they embrace the path of becoming a Josephian . The campfire not only brings together new Josephians , but also past Josephians who , because of their love of SJI , come back and celebrate the growth of these new Josephians . This orientation campfire in SJI is an unforgettable experience and I am sure that this memory will remain in every Josephian ’ s heart in every step they take .
