The Catholic community in Singapore was blessed to have one of these statues visit Singapore from 11 – 18 September . Thousands of faithful came for prayers and reflection , masses and candlelight processions . SJI was very privileged to be part of this celebration . It hosted the main celebration event that was held on 13 September in the school field . This consisted of an outdoor Eucharistic mass celebrated by the Archbishop of Singapore , Most Rev William Goh , and a candlelight procession . A high altar was erected under the portico of our Founder , St . John Baptist de La Salle . An estimated 5,000 faithful venerated the Pilgrim Virgin , and more than 14,000 viewers watched the event live via social media channels that evening .
The SJI Catholic community took the opportunity of this celebration to evangelize about the Catholic faith ’ s veneration of Our Lady and the miracles of her apparition in Fatima in several ways . For Catholic students this included a 9-week novena

“ from 4 July – 13 September and prayer stations designed by the Legion of Mary to encourage recitation of the rosary to pray for the world . In school , the story of Our Lady of Fatima and the three shepherd children and a poster display about Our Lady of Fatima ’ s call for prayer and repentance were exhibited . Specially designed SJI rosaries were also handmade by the students and sold for this celebration .

On the afternoon of 13 September , Catholic Josephians and friends welcomed the Pilgrim Virgin and prayed the rosary . This was followed by a Novena that the students led . They also shared their reflections on how Our Lady of Fatima touches their lives . Students from the five Legion Praesidia in SJI took turns to keep a vigil throughout the afternoon before the session concluded with a unique SJI Human Rosary .
