This year the Roman Catholic Church celebrated the Centennial Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima ( 1917-2017 ). This celebration recalled the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Fatima , Portugal a hundred years ago . Six statues of Our Lady of Fatima were blessed by Pope Francis on 11 January 2017 to be sent to the six continents as the “ International Centennial Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Fatima ”. They were to remind Catholics of Our Lady ’ s appeal for prayer and reparation to preserve world peace and the sanctity of family life .
