games and their rules . Playing of the games were not confined to only the MTL periods as students also had the opportunity to do so during recess . Such is the kind of entertainment that has been sanctioned this year in SJI , and it is hoped that Mother Tongue Week will become an SJI tradition through which we as a community can , not only revel in the festivities but grow in our appreciation of the rich cultures represented in Singapore .

Fun and enjoyment were ubiquitous in SJI during Mother Tongue Week ; all secondary students had their MTL periods enhanced with some traditional games at the amphitheatre in lieu of standard lessons .
