Painful or beautiful . So it is also talking about Luce , its infinite pages , authors , graphic designers , collaborators , directors , research , polemics , debates ; hundreds of numbers , covers , articles crossing the history that walked parallel to it . Because even the pages of Luce are stories of friendships , clashes , and projects , studies and of confrontation , of insights of authoritative teachers , of entrepreneurs with great visions and courageous – if they had not been visionaries they would not have founded AIDI and two years later Luce . Of young and old engineers who came from established polytechnics , and architects who loved light , its value , the beauty that it can give , and the first Masters , the lighting designer figure affirmation and the Made in Italy known in the world . authors , certainly not always simple , but when you succeed that magazine or that book becomes valuable for both , since it tries in every way to understand each other , to explain and to listen what is mutually awaited . On the contrary , trying new ways to insert new forms , new thoughts , unexpected scenarios , such as when Luce in 2014 opens its pages not only to new authors but also to new columns that where not only in the measures laws , rules , lumen / watt ratios , technical canons while relevant , but a light that is other , protagonist in art , theater , cinema and squares , concerts , in buildings façades , museums , expression of modernity and contemporaneity , manifestation of what is new : our fascinating , dramatic , beautiful present . Luce investigates the complexity of culture , sustainable , humanistic design of the new millennium , is a seismograph capable of accommodating different points of view on the world in continuous transformation , and with its English to feel more Europe , more international . We have the advantage of living in an interconnected world , share the same unimaginable information until a decade ago , and Luce year after year identifies new skills , projects and creates jobs , in which the lighting culture values our territory , landscape , art , design and architecture potentials . Luce is an enterprise of innovative design creativity that focuses on social values , protection , conservation and regeneration of our country or nation , fragile but unique in the ability to recover . It shows us the way Piero Castiglioni - a Master of light as Vittorio Storaro , Pasquale Mari , Dan Flavin , Lucio Fontana , Bob Wilson and others - opening the first issue of Flaire , June 1989 , with a significant editorial title : " Not only measure but also illuminate ". Castiglioni writes : " Lighting technology should be integrated into an environmental culture , interpreting history , architecture , the philosophy underlying the spaces in which to operate and to make live ". Luce magazine in its ten-year paths , and with extraordinary directors then , authoritative collaborators and graphic designers - and how not to mention Mario Piazza - has monitored and collected in its changes , technological and cultural ferments as a result of research and experimentation . Luce , between pride and prejudice , has educated readers to understand new aesthetic and design canons in dialogue with architecture , design and has made known light in art , theaters , entertainment , cinemas , photography even to non-professionals , opening our eyes on scenarios of new ways of inhabiting , of living in the name of shared well-being and beauty . Many years have passed , in an odyssey of projects told on Luce , a magazine resilient to environmental and cultural transformations , which have always placed the center of our way of perceiving the light as an act of knowledge of new realities . Competence , responsibility , commitment , information , courage and passion . These are the ingredients of Luce that today celebrates 60 years , which has ' illuminated ' decades of chronicles that over time have written culture of light history in architecture , design , art , city , focusing on new models of relationships between the human being and his surroundings . And so will others after us . And even today , still present , the one who wrote when at that time was director on that now historical number 294 of Luce to ' his ' readers : " We are aware that these goals , which show us the right path to follow , cannot be achieved without your commitment and your trust : in your absence we will not go far ".
