year . From deepening students ' understanding to increasing math fact fluency . We are excited to practice multi digit multiplication and even step into some long division . Our goal is to give these students all the tools they need to succeed in 5th grade . In ELA we will continue our reading of Treasure Island while discussing different elements of the story . e students will finally get to write their own adventure narrative ! In Science and Social Studies , we will finish our unit on Energy and all of its many forms , followed by a fun and quick project on Tennessee History . During Bible class , we are learning about our sanctification in Christ . We can learn , discover , and apply the Spiritual gis used to build each other up in Him ! Paul writes extensively about the love of Christ , and we are focusing on building Love with one another . Corinthians shows us just how important the body of Christ is !

In this final stretch of 5th grade Bible , we will make a shi from our study of the Old Testament to the New Testament . We will dive into the book of Hebrews where students will learn that only Jesus is the Son of God , and He alone lived a perfect life and died a perfect death to bring salvation . e students will be encouraged to lean on God ’ s word as a foundation for growing in faith as they make the transition from Lower School to Middle School and beyond .
Our final unit , Chemical Matter , prepares students for the increased vocabulary and syntax demands that texts will present in later grades for ELA . e Badlands Sleuth tells the story of a fossil dig , in which several fossils go missing and the protagonist , Amy , must use the chemistry she is learning to solve the mystery . rough this , students learn the appropriate organization of content for a range of purposes , combine informational and literary details , apply recently learned insights to convey information and understanding to others , integrate information from multiple sources to explain concepts and ideas , and revise writing in response to peer feedback .
In Math , students will be reviewing all concepts in preparation for the ERB test later in the quarter .
We will wrap up the year in Science continuing to explore Mixtures and Solutions which pairs up well with their ELA unit on Chemical Matter . Students will be investigating the properties and behaviors of substances and systems of substances which provides the opportunity to explore how things go together and how they can be taken apart .

Also , we will work on completing the students ’ portfolio ’ s in Artsonia , assess the students ’ journals they have worked in the entire year , and then send all the remaining projects home .
