was incredibly thin, I have a really high body fat
index so I really need to put some muscles on for
optimal health so I started lifting weights last
fall. I really love it. I have a couple of surgeries
last year so I have gotten out of the gym for a
couple of months a t a time and when I get back
in their it was just like, aaaahhh, home! I’m not
lifting what other people might be lifting and
so I loved that because I go in there and I don’t
feel like it’s competitive. I’m just in the gym by
myself. If I want to go in and do two exercises
and leave or work out 15 minutes, that’s what I
do. If want to go there for an hour, that’s what
I do. I definitely feel a lot better doing that.
But what I really love is hiking. I love being
out in nature. I love going for a walk around
my neighborhood. I love just connecting. What
I really like to do is to get into more play. I
have this friend, Darryl Edwards, who runs play
out for a lot for the primal play workshops
at like the PaleoFx conference - and I have a
lot of friends who are doing all these kind of
play stuffs so it doesn’t come very naturally
for me but any chance I get with my kids to
be out somewhere, I watch them play and I
try to mimic them. I think that’s really our
healthiest ways to get the fitness aspect but
also get the mindfulness piece of I as play.
AB: I’m right with you with the heavy lifting.
I am lifting the fork and then the spoon…
