PRESIDENTS' INSTALLATION the 128 th President of GLMS. He highlighted a few of her many achievements: serving as Chief Resident, graduating from the Norton Provider Leadership Academy and serving as a member of the KMA Focus Forward Strategic Planning group. Dr. Tailor also serves on the KMA Board of Trustees as the Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates and as a AMA member, she serves as a young physician delegate representing Kentucky. “She has been a member of the Greater Louisville Medical Society since donning her first white coat in 2006,” Dr. Burns said. “As only the sixth female President of the Greater Louisville Medical Society, the first Indian American, and one of the youngest Presidents in its history, she is honored to be able to serve the Louisville community in this role, and I am honored to pass the baton to such able hands.” After turning the floor over to Dr. Tailor, she thanked the many people and organizations that have helped her get to this point, thanking Dr. Burns and the Executive Officers and Board, the GLMS staff, her practice partners and Norton Healthcare, and her family and friends. She also gave a sincere thank you to the members of GLMS for allowing her the honor of serving as President. She reflected on the status of our world and gave us a glimpse at how she plans to look forward during these times. “As President of your medical society, over the next year, we must learn to navigate our new normal, advocate for the practice of medicine and our patients, and most importantly, care for and empower ourselves so we can empower our patients together,” she said. She noted that in the midst of constant uncertainty, the health care community must band together as one united voice, emphasizing the importance of organized medicine, GLMS included, to advocate for patients, influence decision makers and help each other to not only survive, but to thrive, after COVID-19. “My original theme for our year together was Empower the Physician, Empower the Patient. In the age of COVID-19, our focus on wellness and self-care has taken on utmost importance…In these times it is okay to disconnect, destress, and take time for ourselves,” she said. “I’m here to remind you, that each and every one of you is a hero. We are all in this together, we are going to get through this. We will all do our best.” To view a video recording of the 2020 Presidents’ Installation, please visit glms.org/resources/doctalks.
