Essay Structure

Our definitive guide on how to get yourself a band 6 in any subject!

1.Plan your essay

●Brainstorm (markers may consider to give marks for this if you run out of time)

●Underline the key words in the question.

●Deconstruct the question (Analyse what it is asking you to do)

●Put ideas into correct order

●Scribble out as you go through and finish writing on that idea

●Do it on inside cover of booklet

2.Answer the question in your first sentence

●Do not make generalised statements that aren’t relevant to the question

●Make the first sentence relevant. Answer it HERE!

●Say to the marker: “Here’s the answer, now I'm going to prove it to you!”

●BEST WAY -> Reword the question into a statement, then expand on it.

●MAKE REFERENCE TO THE STIMULUS MATERIAL (i.e. Quote, if there is a quote). USE THE QUOTE TO ANSWER THE QUESTION!

Mold this to any essay question in any subject and you can easily get full marks for your essay! Of course with the correct content.
