That’s what longboarding can really do, you can pick waves that no one else really wants and still have a bit of fun on them. Obviously the beach breaks from sort of The Spit, all the way down to Miami or even the beach breaks at Burleigh, you can often find something to yourself - that’s always a quick way to get away from the crowds.” There’s a lot of talent coming through the ranks again which is good to see. Who do you rate in longboarding right now? “I think the stand-out at the moment is probably Harley (Ingleby) - he’s really stuck with it and had some big successes, and as for some of the younger guys ... I went up to Noosa recently and saw a bunch of, I can’t even remember those kids’ names, but there were a few little micro groms that could noseride so well. It was very impressive, in tiny waves, obviously I’m 90kg so I’m not going that well in the real ankle biters, but it
