THE LION'S ROAR

Why Does CCS Fundraise?

The CCS school board commits each year to designing a budget that focuses on making an excellent Christian education accessible to as many families as possible. The pie charts to the right illustrate a general picture of the school's overall expense and income categories and percentages.

First, you will note that the school's income is primarily dependent upon tuition, which accounts for 87% of the school's income. Issuing tuition contracts to families enables the school to make contractual agreements with the teachers and administrators. However, overall tuition rates are also made lower than the school's budgeted expenses by relying upon the successful raising of funds to cover the remaining 13% of needed income. For the 2018-2019 school year, based on current enrollment and signed tuition contracts, the budget is designed to raise a total of $85,000. Approximately $70,000 of those funds are raised through the school board's three major fundraiser-events: the Annual Celebration Banquet, the Brochure-Mailing Campaign, and the Annual CCS Auction.

Each of these three fundraiser-events is designed to meet multiple needs, one of which is to invite others outside of the CCS community to join in supporting the mission of Christian education, which receives no federal or state funding. Spreading the word to others expands prayer coverage for the school, awareness in the community that an excellent educational alternative is available at CCS, and the school's base of financial donors.

It is important to recognize that our faculty and staff make significant financial sacrifices to help make a CCS education accessible to families. The salary scale to the right demonstrates the significance of their contributions. Their sacrifice is made even more poignant when you note that 79% of the school's budgeted expenses go towards salaries and wages. We are blessed to have a faculty and staff that is deeply committed to Christian education.

CCS families that are unable to assist with the three major fundraiser-events, which are designed to fund the annual expenses of the school, are able to opt out by making a tax-deductible contribution towards each fundraiser. However, since each event does more than merely raise funds, the school board strongly encourages each family to participate in each fundraiser, whenever possible.
