On October 10-11, 2019, the Junior Class traveled to Boston and experienced firsthand the inspiring history surrounding the American Revolution! As part of the full experience, the students stayed on campus at Eastern Nazarene College (ENC) in Quincy, MA, which is one of only two Christian colleges located in New England. Not only did ENC graciously host our students, but their history professors, Drs. Nick Pruitt and Bill McCoy, also served as tour guides along Boston’s Freedom Trail.

After exploring sights along the Freedom Trail, CCS students were treated to dinner and a show in downtown Boston. They enjoyed a meal at Fire & Ice Mongolian BBQ Restaurant in the city’s theatre district, followed by a performance of the Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse. This trip is significantly subsidized by an MCN/CCS investor each year in order to make this trip possible. Thanks to those who afforded this memorable and educational opportunity to our students!

NOVEMBER 2019

Junior Class Trip to Boston,MA

At CCS, our mission is “to engage and educate young people to know Christ and be equipped to impact the world for God’s Kingdom.” One of the key strategies for accomplishing this mission is to provide students with opportunities to learn and grow by serving others. In fact, being “others-focused” is so important that we intentionally set aside time each school year for our students to engage in service opportunities that benefit both the CCS and greater Manchester communities.

Did you know that our students come from approximately 50 different area churches? As we highly value our partnerships with local churches, we enjoy highlighting a variety of service opportunities that may be of interest to our students and their families. For instance, the Salvation Army, which is located on Main Street in Manchester, runs an annual “Kettle Campaign” from Thanksgiving to Christmas. You may have seen volunteers standing outside local stores ringing the bells and encouraging generous folks to contribute to their annual fund by placing donations into their red kettles.

This year, the Salvation Army (SA) church on

Main Street is looking for volunteers to “ring the bell” at various locations around Manchester. In the past, some of our students have served in this way by taking a 2-hour shift of ringing the bell, saying “Merry Christmas!” and sometimes even singing songs or playing instruments. If you are interested in serving in this way with your family or putting together a group to volunteer in this way, please call the SA church’s office at 860-649-7787. Just imagine how much impact our families and students can have as they engage in serving those right here in our local community, not to mention the impact that service has on those doing the serving!
