CELEBRATING AND SAYING "FAREWELL"
6
THE LION'S ROAR
MAY/JUNE/JULY 2023
The end of a school year also marks a time to say special thanks to our faculty and staff members. The PTFA annually hosts a special luncheon to for this purpose. On behalf of all the Cornerstone families, the PTFA representatives organized a meal along with a special gift of thanks.
The saddest part of these celebrations is recognizing those members who will not be returning to their current positions for the next school year (for a variety of individual reasons).
Donna Corbeil, Grade 3 Teacher
Mrs. Donna Corbeil, Cornerstone Professor Emeritus, returned this year to teach Grade 3 while we continued our search for a permanent Grade 3 classroom teacher. Her experience, passion for education, and love of children was a blessing to our third graders this year. We wish her God’s best as she returns to retirement, and we look forward to seeing her around CCS (in a variety of other capacities) for many years to come!
Janet Stice, Music Teacher
Mrs. Janet Stice also returned to CCS from retirement to teach a final year at Cornerstone. Her love of music and love for the Lord is contagious. She has inspired our students to sing mightily unto Him, and it was a blessing to have her once more this year. We pray God’s blessing on her in the years ahead.
Phil Demand, Band Teacher
Each year Mr. Phil Demand takes brand new instrumentalitsts and leads them into becoming band members. It is always amazing to witness the growth and accomplishment demonstrated at the Spring Concert. Mr. Phil Demand’s love for music and dedication to the program has been a blessing to Cornerstone. We pray God’s continued direction, provision, and blessing as he moves into a new career field.
Kevin Yoreo, Praise Team Leader
Cornerstone parent Kevin Yoreo has advised our High School Praise Team for the past two school years. His love for the Lord and investment in our students has born much fruit. Mr. Yoreo will remain a part of the Cornestone community as a parent, but he will not be leading our praise team next year. He will be missed!
