Spring Volleyball

Submitted by Juliana Theil (Sophomore)

Spring is in the air, and also in the gym...that is, the spring in our step! If you swing by the gym after school on Tuesdays you can see us in action...BUMP, SET, SPIKE!  This is the lingo we use on the court. A co-ed group of high school students has formed a volleyball club that meets every Tuesday to hone skills, practice the best sport (I may be biased) and to just enjoy fellowship. Those afternoons are filled with laughs, making baskets, and...oh, yes, playing volleyball. Through warm-ups and playing games, we all have improved so much both individually and as a group. There has been so much growth and encouragement that everyone can now serve and hit, as well as make good passes. It is amazing too see a group of teenagers varying ages and abilities band together to have fun, get some exercise, and encourage one other.  So, encourage your high school student to swing by and jump into the action on the court with us on Tuesdays.  We are thankful for the opportunity to play and are excited to see how this little club might grow in the future.

Cornerstone provides several information nights each spring to help families learn more about a Christian education at CCS. They are strategically designed to target the interests of specific audiences. On March 22 of this year, we decided to combine our middle and high school information nights into one event, but we divided into two separate groups for the second half of the evening. These nights are also tailored each year to provide for current parents of students entering Grade 6 and Grade 9 to ask their questions about the next program level.

On May 17, we will be hosting a general information night at 6:30 PM in the elementary building sanctuary that provides an overview of our entire Preschool through Grade 12 program. Depending upon who attends that evening, we will provide individualized tours based on the specific grades of interest.

Each year we offer two sets of Parent-Teacher Conferences that are split between two days in November and two days in April. Since COVID arrived in March 2020, we have offered two options for conferences. Parents have been able to sign up for either the traditional in-person type of conference or a virtual conference (via video conferencing or by phone). As we plan ahead for next year, we would love to receive your feedback about your experiences with parent-teacher conferences this year. Please CLICK HERE and take 1-2 minutes to share with us!

On August 1, we will be hosting another general information night; however, this one will also include a component of interest for homeschooling families. We hope to be able in 2022-2023 to resume our practice of opening limited enrollment to homeschool families when we have extra seats available in a high school course, in a middle school math class, and in elementary and middle school specials (music, band, art, and P.E.). This evening event will also take place at 6:30 PM in the elementary building.

If you know of anyone interested in finding out more about a Christian education at CCS, please encourage them to contact the office and join us for one of these specially designed information nights.
