Ms. Caelah-Beth Butler is our new high school English teacher. She has her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary
Education and English with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language. She taught full-time
at The Grove School in Madison, CT, last year. (She is still Miss Wight at the moment, but her soon-to-be-
married name will be changing early this month!)
Middle School Language Arts Teacher
Mrs. Sharleen Eakins is our new middle school language arts teacher. She has a Bachelor’s degree from
Rochester Institute of Technology (B.F.A. in Painting and Sculpture), and she has been actively involved in
classical education for the past several years. Mrs. Eakins is the process of being trained to teach our
Foundations & Frameworks (F&F) program, thanks to Mrs. Dawn Snellenberger, our trained F&F trainer!
P.E. Teacher
Mr. Alex Clark is our new physical education teacher. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences
with Teacher Licensure from Liberty University. He also happens to be a CCS graduate (Class of 2014), so we
are particularly proud to have him join the CCS faculty! He will also be teaching our middle school boys'
Bible course.
Kindergarten Aide
We are excited to have Mrs. Stacey Lavers join our staff as a Kindergarten aide, which is a new position this
year due to such high enrollment in this grade!
Back-to-School Events
Our back-to-school events are designed to help set the stage for a strong
partnership between parents and the school. We hope you can join us!
Back-to-School Picnic & Fellowship, 8/24 @ 5:30 PM
Join us on Saturday, 8/24, from 5:30-7:30 PM on the CCS field (between the two
school buildings) for a time of fellowship. Come meet new friends and reconnect with old friends as we
enjoy a time of fellowship before the school year starts. Bring your own picnic dinner for your family and your
own lawn chairs and/or blankets. CCS will provide a “frozen dessert” and iced water. In the event of rain,
the event will be canceled and announced via the CCS app’s push notification. (There will not be a movie
this year.)
Elementary Drop-In, 8/26 between 2-4:00 PM
Since our Elementary Back-to-School Night (later in the evening) is for parents only, we offer an opportunity
for parents to bring their Preschool through Grade 5 students to school on Monday, 8/26, to "drop in" and
briefly meet their new classroom teachers any time between 2:00 and 4:00 PM; students must be
accompanied by an adult. You can also drop off your child's school supplies at this time if you would like to
lighten your child's load on the first day of school. This will be a time to simply drop in and say hello; a formal
presentation of the program will be provided for parents later in the evening (see below for more details).
Elementary Back-to-School Night, 8/26 @ 6:30 PM
All parents of students entering Preschool through Grade 5 should plan to attend the Elementary Back-to-
School Night on Monday, 8/26, at 6:30 PM. This event is designed specifically for parents (not for students).
At this meeting, parents will receive important information from the administration and the classroom
teachers that will help set the stage for a successful year ahead.
Grades 6-12 Back-to-School Night & Junior-Senior Class Meetings, 8/27 @ 6:30 PM
This evening is designed for all CCS students entering Grades 6-12 and their parents. This important event will
take place on Tuesday, August 27, at 6:30 PM in the McLain building gymnasium. Additionally, a time will be
set aside for students and parents of the junior and senior classes to have their first class meetings of the
year. These particular class meetings are essential for preparing ahead of time (with parents and students)
for the fundraising, planning, and effective communication related to our annual junior and senior events.
