THE LION'S ROAR

APRIL 2023

Enrolled at Cornerstone Since: Grade 11

Hobbies: I enjoy reading very much, as well as writing and dancing. I also love to learn languages! I think one of the most considerate and welcoming things to do is to take time to learn someone's native language. I also think that all the different ways that people express themselves and their various observations are very beautiful in their own way. Language fascinates me.The subjects I love to read about the most are philosophy, psychology, history, linguistics, and science (especially earth and space science and biology, but when it gets to strictly applied mathematics in science, it gets a little dicey for me).

Future Plans: I'm locked down on going to Roberts Wesleyan University! It's my sister's and brother-in-law's alma mater. I actually applied there on a whim, just because I recognized it as my sister's former school; but, they accepted me and were willing to give me an amazing financial package! I am extremely thankful! I will be visiting Roberts in April, and I'm super excited to meet everyone!

Fun CCS Memory:  Right now, I help out with the sophomore Spanish class during third period, and they make me laugh all the time. I don't have a super specific moment to share because, honestly, every day has something new and hilarious about it. I do also have very good memories with my friend Haley last year. We supported each other through everything. We both faced hurdles that no one else knew of, and we just confided in each other and really understood each other, despite our many differences. She's doing great at Windsor High this year, but she truly made last year amazing for me.

Favorite Bible Verse: Jesus' simple words to Paul guide my life: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinithians 12:9). Throughout my life and especially after my conversion, I have clearly seen God's power perfected through my weakness. He has used the times when I have had nothing. He uses those times to bring me (and others) to Himself. I was given hope, determination, patience, perserverance, and a strengthened character not only to ride out the storm, but to radiate the beauty of Christ's deliverance to those around me. Surely, His grace is sufficient for me, and it is sufficient for us!

What advice do you have for your fellow students? I would say, don't take yourself so seriously, but take your mission absolutely seriously. Be genuine, too! Once you start faking your emotions and thoughts, you will quickly burn yourself out and irritate the ones who see through you.

Favorite Dessert: My favorite desserts are everything my mom makes for the holidays! She bakes very well and has a lot of great recipes.
