A LOVE FOR CHAPEL

Recently a Kindergarten friend shared her love for chapel. In fact, she loves it so much that she asked her mother to schedule her appointments so that she would not miss chapel! When her teacher, Sarah Weymer, asked her why she loved chapel so much, this was her answer: “I love chapel because you sing songs to God. We pray and listen to the Bible. It’s important because we listen to God.”

It was a blessing that the day’s chapel message, delivered by Mr. Bushong, was that we are all an important piece of God’s puzzle! M.I., our kindergarten friend, you are indeed a piece of God’s plan, and we are blessed to have you in our CCS family.

FACULTY THEME TEAM

At Cornerstone, our staff and faculty members wear MANY hats! In addition to teaching, we also serve on committees and teams. One of these teams is our Theme Team, which is focused on helping our students learn and apply our annual theme and theme verse(s).

At our recent Theme Day Chapel, the team donned some especially fun hats for the morning! Mrs. Thiel led a mock game show where the contestants were proud, jealous, and self-centered. By the end of the game, the contestants learned that it was better to follow God's way and be full of grace, humble, gentle, kind, patient, loving, and giving.

When we seek to grow and demonstrate these traits, we honor God and are able to truly come together and praise Him WITH ONE VOICE!

PI DAY PI-OFF

Each year Ms. Roderick leads our McLain students in an exciting event to celebrate March 14th, otherwise written as 3/14, and known as Pi Day! Students in Grades 6-12 are invited to participate in the annual Pi-Off. Not only does this give students something to look forward to in the longest month of the school year, but it is also a good opportunity for students to reflect on the way God designed Creation so mathematically.

It is also a great opportunity for students to shine, sharing their God-given giftings and talents with us all!

This year's Pi-Off had an incredible number of submissions and performances ranging from baking pies to the presentation of a research paper! There were skits, original songs, "PiKus" (pi-related Haiku), and the Grade 7 students led us all in a pi-inspired workout session! Taking the trophy for most digits of pi recited from memory was Julie Thiel (Grade 11). She correctly recited 144 digits while the eyes of the entire McLain student body and faculty were on her. Way to go, Julie!

Listed below are the winners for some of the other categories that day. Thank you to everyone for joining the fun and making this one of our best Pi Day celebrations so far!
