Marriage took her to Lancashire where, working alongside Lancaster University’s resident sculptor, she put together her portfolio to do a Post Grad. At Central St Martin’s no less, learning from the likes of Anthony Caro, Phillip King and Frank Gough. “I was amazed I got in! But it was great. St Martin’s was quite “metal heavy” so I learned to weld, in those days with oxyacetylene, and learned lots of other skills I might never have come across but which have been really useful throughout my career.
Later I got together with some of the other St Martin’s sculptors and we rented a big studio in Clerkenwell. It was huge with heavy lifting equipment and everything. It was bliss. Sheer bliss!"
